AC drives
From EvTechWiki
Typically AC drives are induction, usually with 3 phase motors. Several different individuals and corperations have produced AC drives that are suitable for traction use. Generally the motor controller of a AC drive is called a inverter, because it generates a 'inverting' or 'alternating' output from a DC source.
