Brushless DC motors
From EvTechWiki
A brushless DC motor is either
- a set of rotating permanent magnets with a stationary set op coils around it. Or
- a stationary set op coils with a set of magnets rotating around it.
The stationary set of coils are switched on- and off by an electronic circuit.
Most of the time this circuit detects the position of the motor by measuring the feedback from the coils.
Sometimes a hall- effect sensor is used to 'tell' the electronics in which position the magnets are.
Many people convert brushed motors to brushless motors as a hobby. A converted motor has much more power that the original one.
