How to manage batteries

Step 1 -- Measure the differences between batteries.

  a. Spot checks -- measure only at specific times (such as at the end of each charge).
  b. Continuous checking -- use an automated method to measure each battery automatically.

Step 2 -- Individually charge or discharge batteries to correct differences.

  a. Bypass excess charging current
     - examples: Rudman MK1, MK2, or MK3; BatPro, Hart zener-lamp regulators
  b. Individual chargers
     - examples: Soniel, Vicor, or other reliable isolated charger, one per battery
  c. Charge transfer
     - between adjacent batteries (Powercheq, BattEQ)
     - from pack as a whole to individual batteries (Mentzer Badicheq, Zivan Smoother, Hart Battery Balancer)
