Sheer's experience
I should mention anticdotally that I have quite a bit of experience with NiZn, as I ran a pack of Evercel batteries in my car for a couple of years and about 5500 miles. Eventually they got damaged by overcharging, which is part of what is insipring me to finally get the MK3EB project off the ground. However, before that happened they were amazing batteries. They weighed about 45 lbs and held about 83 AH, and loved cold weather.
They did have a few downsides - the most noticable was that I had balancing problems within each individual battery, and in my early batteries there were no provisions for cell-by-cell balancing. They would vent from time to time, hissing worryingly. They also ran reletively hot during discharge, and had a pronounced voltage sag during the end of each cycle (a 12V nominal cell would be down to 7V @ 200A)
A friend of mine tried Evercels in a low-voltage car, and they were quickly destroyed by the high currents. It would appear that 4C is about the most you can reasonably get out of Evercels, and even then you need active cooling. I mostly ran mine at about 1C, which they seemed quite happy with.
